What I Read Today;
Ephesians 2; Luke 9; Ezekiel 39; Ecclesiastes 39; 1 Kings 15
We are a hyper-competitive society. We strive to be the best. We’ll go deep into debt trying to one-up our neighbor.
But that’s not Jesus’ way, is it?
Jesus came to serve. His mission was to seek out and save the lost souls wandering around the earth. Jesus expected his disciples to do the same. We are expected to put aside notions of grandeur.
Jesus worked long hours for little adulation. He spent time teaching people who had no interest in what he had to say. He healed people who didn’t even stop to say thanks.
Jesus didn’t come for the cheers of the crowd. He came to serve.
What’s your motivation?
That is an excellent question. I think even those of us who have been with Jesus for a long time, if we are brutally honest, would have to say our motivations are at best mixed.
