What I Read Today:

2 Corinthians 11; Mark 15; Ezekiel 29; Proverbs 25-26; 1 Kings 5

Paul really seems to have had it.  People seem to be attacking his ministry from inside the Christian community.  Some are working to undermine his ministry by placing false teachings in the way of the Corinthian believers.

I thought I might steal from Jeff Foxworthy’s, “You might be a redneck” and create my own, “You might be a false profit.”  Let’s see how it goes.

  • You might be a false profit if you preach that God will make you wealthy if you only have enough faith
  • You might be a false profit if you believe that God is punishing a person who is sick, bankrupt, or otherwise in distress for sin.
  • You might be a false profit if you say Jesus is not the only way to Heaven.
  • You might be a false profit if you only preach about a loving God and not a Holy God
  • You might be a false profit if you say that all religions worship the same God
  • You might be a false profit if you say that scripture isn’t God-breathed
  • You might be a false profit if you pick and choose what scriptures are God-breathed
  • You might be a false profit if you don’t believe that the Bible talks about real people throughout history
  • You might be a false profit if you don’t believe that a divine creator, created the universe
  • You might be a false profit if you believe that there is no literal Devil or Hell
  • You might be a false profit if you don’t believe Jesus rose from the dead

I could go on, but I think you get the point.  Sadly, there’s a lot of this out there.  The truth is, that is why we need to be grounded and rooted in the scriptures.
