What I Read Today;
Revelation 5-6; Acts 24; Jeremiah 35; Psalm 113; 1 Samuel 9
In 1 Samuel 9, we meet the future King of Israel, Saul. Much is written about Saul being a failed king. I want to focus on his calling.
Saul is living an ordinary life.
Saul works in his family’s business. Saul is a descendent of the tiny tribe of Benjamin. The family of Saul is not descended from noble blood.
Saul is just a simple ordinary guy living his life.
God is about to change Saul’s life. He’s about to call Saul into his service. From this moment, Saul’s life will never be the same.
Isn’t that how God works in our lives? We’re walking along, minding our own business, and boom, God intervenes. We don’t understand what’s happening. Yet, life dramatically changes direction.
Saul will do what we all do. He’ll resist God, argue with God, and try to escape God’s plan. In the end, he will give in to God’s will and become the first King of Israel.
Is God calling you to do something? Is he pushing you to change direction? Are you resisting what God wants you to do?
Maybe today is the day to stop fighting and give in to the will of God.
