What I Read Today;
Genesis 13-15; Psalm 5; Matthew 5; Romans 5
What is it that makes us special? How are we unique? What am I here for?
Can God really love someone like me?
These questions are just a few, among many, that people ask themselves each and every day of there lives.
We tend to measure our worth by human standards. How much money I have, my family, my possessions, and my career. We measure ourselves against others. Our self worth becomes the sum of the total on a balance sheet.
Thankfully, God doesn’t measure our value in that way!
God sees each one of us as God’s own dearly loved children. He views each of us as a special creation from heaven. A unique and loved creation from God’s own tender hand.
How can we believe this? What possibly proves that God really thinks this?
The words of Romans 5:6 and 5:8 tell us how we can believe this for ourselves:
“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” Romans 5:6 NRSV
“But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 NRSV
Our value is determined not by what we accumulate or do in this life. Our value is determined by how far God was willing to go on our behalf to bring us into a right relationship with him!
