What I read today;
2 Peter 5 & 1 Peter 1; Acts 7-8; Jeremiah 28-29; Psalm 60; 2 Samuel 14-15; Leviticus 5
1 Peter 6 vs. 6-7, “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.” NRSV
We tend to be worriers today. We worry about losing the things we have and not having the things we want. Rather than be content, we covet and seek out more and more. Those things wind up piled up on our garage floors more often than not.
At work, we become angry because we feel we aren’t being recognized. We get mad when we get passed over for promotions or raises. Eventually, we get bitter and move on.
That is how the world works nowadays. We worry and stress about things that are entirely out of our control.
But Peter tells us that we need to stop worrying about the things we can’t control and cast everything on God. By putting our faith in God and letting him handle the direction of our lives, we move the stress to the one who can handle it. We trust that no matter what happens with us, he will use us to fulfill his purpose in our lives.
God will move his people where he wants them. He will give us a purpose and show us the way. If we let God be God and move forward seeking out his plans, then we can quit worrying about the things we have no control over.
