What I read today;
Romans 2; Matthew 2; Isaiah 2; Job 2; Joshua 2; Genesis 2
It’s easy to read the scriptures. We can read them, memorize them, learn their meaning, and still not get it. The truth is that God wants more from us than just a simple recitation and memorization. God wants us to allow his word to permeate our being. God wants us to live the word he speaks. Not as a part of some ritual but as if it was bubbling out of our souls through our hearts and minds and off our tongues. God wants our relationship with him to be sincere and intense.
Most of us, however, are afraid of going that deep. We’re so scared of finding out what is inside of our own souls. We’re fearful of opening up to God because of our guilt. But God already knows about everything we’ve done and everything we’re going to do. Yet God still wants to have that deep, personal relationship with you and me through Jesus.
Dig deeper. Let God’s love envelop you inside a cocoon of Jesus love, grace, and mercy.
Romans 2 vs. 28-29, “For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical. Rather, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and real circumcision is a matter of the heart—it is spiritual and not literal. Such a person receives praise not from others but from God.”
