What I read today;

Revelation 14-15; Acts 19-20; Zechariah 9-10; Proverbs 29; Song of Songs 5; Deuteronomy 30

Do you believe that you’ve fallen away from God to the point that God can’t forgive you?  Is there something in your past that you believe is unforgivable?  Do you know someone who believes they’ve fallen so far they can’t be forgiven?

Deuteronomy 30 comes at the end of a long discourse where God lays out blessings and curses.  Blessing for obedience and Curses for disobedience.  It could be easy to look at this section and believe that God would just turn his back on anyone who fails to obey the commandments.  But here in chapter 30, we see that God says no to the idea that we could ever fall so far that he could never forgive us.

In fact, he promises that no matter how far we’ve fallen, no matter where we are at, no matter the circumstances or what we’ve done, if we turn back to him, God will welcome us back with open arms.  In fact, he promises to bless us. Not with material wealth or possessions, but by circumcising our hearts.  By giving us the Holy Spirit and changing our hearts and minds.  He promises to love us as if we had never gone wrong in the first place.

That’s the magnificence of our God.  His overabundant love and grace.  His desire to welcome back sinful people who’ve run from him.  That’s the God of Grace and Mercy you can find throughout the Bible!
