It’s really amazing how time flies.  I can still remember your Mom and I talking about you before you were even born.  You know your Mom had a difficult pregnancy with your sister.  Everything that could go wrong did.  We then tried on and off for 5 years to have another child. Mom suffered through a terrible miscarriage, 5 years after your sister was born.

Then we struggled through another 5 years.  Mostly trying to work up the courage to try again.  Finally, we made the decision to try one more time.  We thought your Mom was pregnant and found out she wasn’t.  I remember driving to work that night the whole way to work.

Then God said yes.

We have had the privilege of calling you our daughter for 24 years.  We have watched you grow into a young woman.  Since you were 14 you wanted to be a teacher.  I remember you teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, taking extra credits to work with a classroom while in High School.  You worked so hard at two pre-schools while putting yourself through Junior College and finally attended College.

We went through so much watching you struggle through all the difficulties and hardships.

But you never quit.

Your strength and perseverance and God’s Blessing got you through.

Your Mom cried through the entire ceremony.  We were both choked with emotion watching you walk across the stage.

I wish I could tell you the struggles were over.  I wish I could tell you that life will be easy.

But know this.  You have already demonstrated that with God at your back you can do anything.  You have already shown that you are stronger and can take anything that life throws your way.

So don’t ever let anyone tell you what you can or can’t do.  No man, woman, neighbor coworker or anyone else.  From this point forward be who you want to be.  The truth is, you have an incredible gift.  The way you interact with children is a marvel to see.  Don’t let anyone tell you differently!

I am so proud of you for everything you’ve accomplished and how hard you’ve worked to achieve your goals!

I’m looking forward to seeing what you do next!  The Sky’s the limit!  Be the best teacher, become a principal, direct an art studio, be a preacher, it’s all up to you!

We’ll always be in your corner cheering you on!

We love you always!
