What I read today;
Genesis 27; Judges 17-18; Psalm 21; Isaiah 21; Mark 13-14; 1 Corinthians 5
The book of Judges can be a difficult book to read. We see this pattern throughout the book of Israel falling away from God, God turning away from his people, the people crying out for help, God sending a judge to save the people, the people serving God during that judges lifetime, and finally, after the judge’s death, the process starts all over.
As we get towards the end of the book of Judges, we read some of the examples of what the people did as they drifted away from God. Judges 17 is just such an example.
We are spiritual people. That’s how God wired us. We know deep inside our hearts that we are meant for more than this life. We feel the tug of God inside of each and every one of us. That’s why we see so many people today running to “spiritual” things in an attempt to fill that void.
Yet today people seem to be less fulfilled than ever before.
If we don’t fill that void in our hearts with Jesus, then we will fill it with anything that we can make into a god. Ultimately, that will leave us unfulfilled and seeking something that just isn’t there.
