What I read today:
Genesis 22; Judges 7-8; Psalm 16; Isaiah 16; Mark 3-4; Romans 16
Since the first of the year, we’ve been watching less and less of the news. But last night we watched the news. After watching the President at the Border and a discussion on what was going on between the President and the Congress a final piece came on that was truly disturbing.
A number of our Senators are now attempting to disqualify individuals who belong to a Catholic organization known as the Knights of Columbus from serving as judges. The main complaint is the organization’s views on abortion and gay rights.
I truly don’t know much about the Knights of Columbus, but what I do know is that we now have Senators openly attacking an organization and the people in it, as extreme because it holds to traditional Christian values. In my lifetime I never thought that would happen.
That’s why I need to hear the words of Psalm 16 vs. 11 this morning:
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is ‘fullness of joy’; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
No matter what happens in our world God is still in control and I can count on that, even when things appear to be falling apart.
