What I read today
2 Chronicles 23; Ecclesiastes 12; Hosea 11-14; John 8; 2 Thessalonians 2
John 8 contains some of the most profound statements of Jesus. None more profound that verse 12.
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
The world we live in is a dark and cold place. It’s hard to walk through this life without being engulfed in total darkness. We can be cold and cruel. But the love of Jesus Christ can illuminate the world we live in and change the way we see each day. If we are following Jesus, then that person who is so difficult to deal with becomes a lost soul who Jesus died for. If we are walking in the light of Jesus then when the venom of the world creeps around us his light pushed the shadows away.
If we can view the world that God created through Jesus’ eyes and in light of Jesus actions, then we can have our perspective changed from within causing us to see the world not as a dark and lonely place but as a place of opportunity. A place where the Gospel can change the hearts and minds of tired and isolated people can find peace and joy.
