What I read today
2 Chronicles 20; Ecclesiastes 9; Hosea 8; John 5; 2 Thessalonians 4
In life, we face numerous times when the world seems to be collapsing around us. Whether we have a time when a loved ones turn on us, or maybe our marriage falls apart, or we lose a job, or someone gets ill or dies, life will come at us in ways that are many times unimaginable and many times unbearable.
Judah and King Jehosaphat find themselves in a moment like that in 2 Chronicles 20.
Everything is bearing down around them. Judah is facing an enemy that they have no way of defeating. They do the only thing they can do. They turn to God and fall into his loving arms.
In our life when we face those challenges and we don’t know what to do it is our faith in the creator God that should keep us moving forward. It is in precisely that moment when we are drained of all of our abilities, and we have nothing left in our tanks that God wants us to turn back to him and rely solely on him.
It’s in those moments that he carries us through. It’s in those moments that we learn to trust only in God.
