What I read today
2 Chronicles 14; Ecclesiastes 3; Hosea 2; Luke 23; Colossians 2
In Hosea chapter 2 God lays out the charges he has against the people of Israel and Judah. He explains that their continuing worship of false gods like Baal have separated them from the God of the universe. He tells them that he is punishing them and they are in serious trouble.
But then in verse 14 God switches directions. He tells them that in spite of their sin, in spite of their wandering away and serving other God’s, that he is going to make a way for them to spend eternity with him.
God’s promises are found throughout the Old Testament. His grace and mercy can be seen book by book and chapter by chapter.
Verses 16 to 23 give us a glimpse of our heavenly home that we can look forward to seeing at the end of our time on this earth. A place of peace, a place of plenty, a place of eternal worship and fellowship with God himself.
