What I read today
1 Chronicles 13-14; Proverbs 20; Ezekiel 47; Luke 9; Galatians 4
Who is God?
God’s a creator. He made everything including mankind.
God’s a lawgiver. He put into our hearts the ability to know what’s right and wrong.
God is a punisher. He vows to punish the wicked and the evil.
God is Holy. He can’t tolerate sin in his presence.
Yes God is all of these.
But the essence of who God is, the reality of what makes God who he is can be summed up in one word, Love.
Galatians chapter 4 verses 4-5 sum up what God is, what his character is all about this way:
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children.”
When we were unlovable and rejected God, he chose to send us mercy and grace. He decided to make a way for us to reach him. He took upon himself all our sin and shame and gave to each one of us his grace.
That’s who God really is.
When we suffer through disease, job loss, marital problems or other issues, we need to focus on the grace and mercy and love of our creator God. That’s how we get through each and every day.
