What I read today
2 Kings 22-23; Proverbs 16; Ezekiel 43; Luke 5; 2 Corinthians 13
Josiah was a child when he was made King. His mother had taught him the difference between right and wrong but he was never really trained in God’s word. Truthfully the entire nation had turned it’s back on the word of God. They had lost what God had said. It was right there in front of them the whole time but the memory of God’s command had been watered down and as time went on totally forgotten.
Relegated to a small back room in the temple one of the priests stumble onto the law of Moses and read it to the king.
As Josiah heres the words of the scriptures his heart melts. Imagine the power of the word of God to cause a king to change his direction right on the spot. Josiah took the words of the scriptures to heart and an entire kingdom was changed.
God’s word can truly change our hearts. The church and society have walked away from the scriptures. We’ve seen the damage this has caused. The truth is that we need more people to read and study the word of God today.
