What I read today
2 Kings 17-18; Proverbs 14; Ezekiel 41; Luke 3; 2 Corinthians 11
Geneology’s are hard to read. They are boring and don’t really seem to tell us anything. Yet throughout the bible we have lists of Genealogys from Genesis to Luke’s.
Why are they important? What do they tell us?
Luke’s Geneology is different than Matthew’s in some ways.
Matthew is interested in showing the Jewish people that Jesus was the messiah because h descended from the line of David. The Jewish people were looking for a messiah from that line.
Luke, however, was talking to gentiles and was showing people that it was God’s plan from the beginning of time, from the moment that sin entered the world to explain to people that God immediately set in motion a way to save his lost creation.
Isn’t it amazing that from the moment sin entered the world God put in motion a plan to save all of us? What kind of love is that?
