What I read today
1 Kings 15-16; Proverbs 2; Ezekiel 29; Mark 7; 1 Corinthians 15
Do you remember the first time you fell in love?
Did you think of nothing but that person? Did your heart skip a beat when that person called you? When you saw them, did you feel an overwhelming joy when they looked at you? More than that though as time went on did you want to know everything about that person? You wanted to know where he or she had come from? What they did for a living? How they felt about different topics? What made them who they were? It’s how we develop a long-term relationship with another person.
Proverbs 2 tells us that God wants us to feel that way about him. Then God tells us how to develop a long-term, growing relationship with him.
It tells us to do some things:
- Accept his words and treasure up his commands
- Turn your ear and heart to him
- Cry out for God’s wisdom
- Trust that the Lord will give you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding
What does he promise?
He promises that if you do this he will send wisdom into your heart and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul!
