What I read today
1 Kings 9-10; Psalm 149; Ezekiel 26; Mark 4; 1 Corinthians 12
Spreading the seed of the Gospel today is not easy. Church attendance is decreasing. People are less open to discussing Christianity. A lot of people’s opinions are set in stone. Belief in Jesus as savior is now openly mocked.
Many of the successful TV evangelists don’t preach the Gospel but preach a “prosperity gospel” that talks about what Jesus will do to make us rich and successful.
Sadly, the message is needed more today than ever before. We’ve drifted away as a church. We’ve moved on from the teaching that the Bible is the inspired word of God and that Jesus is the only way to salvation. We’ve done what we can to discredit main scriptural teachings.
Society has moved towards entertainment over worship. We spend hours in front of our TV but can’t find time to read our bible. We spend hours on our cell phones but one hour for church on Sunday is so hard to carve out.
The Bible says that it will get worse.
What kind of soil are you and I?
