What I read today
2 Samuel 19-20; Psalm 142; Ezekiel 19; Matthew 25; 1 Corinthians 4
I’ve been going through an internal struggle lately. Struggling with things happening inside of the church itself. The Catholic church Sex abuse scandals. Sexual harassment issues at some protestant Mega Church bodies. Arguments inside the church body that we attend around homosexuality.
I ran across a verse in 1 Corinthians 4 this morning that caught my attention.
“I have applied all this to Apollos and myself for your benefit, brothers and sisters, so that you may learn through us the meaning of the saying, “Nothing beyond what is written,” so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of one against another. “
It seemed the church in Corinth had divided over loyalties of one leader over another. One group following Paul, one following Apollos, One following Peter, and on and on.
Paul says we shouldn’t put our faith in any one particular teacher or denomination but that we should follow what is written in God’s Word.
