What I read today

1 Samuel 21-22; Psalm 128; Ezekiel 5; Matthew 11; Romans 6

Psalm 128 opens with “Happy is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways.  You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be happy, and it shall go well with you.”

Hmm.  I don’t mean to be Debbie Downer, but I don’t know too many people who fit that description.  We all struggle, we all have times of doubt, we all have those moments we shake our heads and wonder what is going on.

But as Christians, we can take comfort in the fact that Jesus died for each one of us.  We can take comfort in the fact that he promised to be with each one of us every day of our lives and that he promised he’d never lose one of us.

It’s hard to be happy all the time.  Maybe if we focused more on Jesus and less on ourselves, we’d be happier.
