What I read today
1 Samuel 19-20; Psalm 127; Ezekiel 4; Matthew 10; Romans 5
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
Everything we have can be taken in an instant. Our health can fail in the blink of an eye. Our bank can fail, taking our money with it. The stock market can crash, and our 401k can disappear in the blink of an eye. Our house can be hit by lightning and burn in minutes.
Everything we own will, in the end, be left to someone else at the end of our life.
The only thing that we have that will endure forever is our relationship with the Lord himself. Nothing else will remain of us.
We spend all of our time and effort striving for money, power, advancement, pleasure and all the other things of this life. Shouldn’t we spend more time focusing on the only thing that lasts an eternity?
