What I read today
1 Samuel 13-14; Psalm 124; Ezekiel 1; Matthew 7; Romans 2
Have You heard it said that patience is a virtue?
I’ve heard about it but I’m not a practitioner in the art of patience. Patience is not my strong suit. I don’t think I’m alone in saying this. We all want something right now. Too often we wait impatiently for whatever it is we believe we’re due and when the time approaches we become more and more anxious.
That’s what happens with Saul in 1 Samuel 13. He was told to wait. But as the time came near, he panicked. He wanted to get things done in his time. So he rushed into doing something that he didn’t really understand. He used his timeline instead of God’s and ultimately the entire plan failed and he lost his kingdom.
God won’t be rushed.
He does things in a time that benefits us. We don’t know why he makes us wait sometimes but he really does have our best interests in mind.
Remember that the next time you’re waiting on something and it seems that God is taking forever.
