What I read today

Deuteronomy 19-20; Psalm 86; Jeremiah 20; John 18; Titus 3

Titus 3 is both a profoundly inspirational chapter and a problematic chapter to live up to.

Our governments, state, county, local and federal have often caused problems by the laws they pass and the way they behave.  Today Springfield and Washington DC are a mess.

Going through my daily life, I find it difficult to not speak evil of people who I work for and with.  Some days I wonder what is wrong with people.  I’m sure they feel the same way about me.

People don’t avoid quarrels anymore.  They seek them out.  Especially in the nameless and faceless void of the internet.  People will say some of the most mean-spirited things not only insulting what was said but insulting the character of the person who’s being talked about.

Controversies abound every day in our lives and in the world around us.

Paul’s cure was simple.  Focus on what Jesus did for us and allow the Spirit of God to fill our lives with his grace and mercy.  Focus on that, and our need for ridiculous and silly arguments will diminish quickly.
