What I read today
Genesis 21-22; Psalm 11; Isaiah 11; Matthew 11; Romans 11
Matthew 11:28-30 is one of my favorite scriptures of the entire Bible. It sums up in around 50 words who Jesus is.
Read this and I think you’ll understand:
“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Can you hear Jesus in these words?
He knows we’ve failed to obey his law. He knows we’ve failed in our lives. We’ve done so many things we’d like to have back. He knows we’re tired and beaten up by the world we live in.
He knows that oftentimes we’ve turned to religion only to have lists of rules tossed in our faces. Rules we simply can’t live up to.
He see’s it, he’s lived it and he understands it.
It’s why he came to this earth. It’s why he willingly took up a cross. He did it so you and I could find rest for our souls.
So you could have a relationship with Jesus, the creator of the universe.
